Please see the following tribute to VE Day 1945 on this the 75th Anniversary 2020
Original film footage taken at the time with an excerpt from Rosemary Dorricott and an additional soundtrack of We'll Meet Again.
On the 25th June I had the pleasure of attending the Armed Forces Day in Scarborough. It was a beautiful day with many events occuring on the seafront. There were thousands of people in the crowd but I did manage to film some of the days events. It may seem unusual to put a film on this website some months after the occasion. However a Remembrance Service was held on that day and I felt it was important that this should be shown as we draw close to Remembrance Day this year.
To mark Remembrance Day please see extracts of the Service held at Sutton on Sea in 2014

However I was very privileged to be able to attend the special occasion of ANZAC DAY at the former RAF BINBROOK
site on APRIL 25th. 2015.It was wonderful day successfully organised by the communities of Binbrook and Brookenby
I had the opportunity to record memories of people who were involved in WW2,particularly Dave Fellowes - 460 Squadron, and others who had stories to tell about Binbrook and 460 Squadron.
Please take the time to watch these interviews. I hope you enjoy them.
(Please note that the interview with Dave Fellowes is produced in three parts in order to assist with the speed of downloading.)
Additionally Dave relates his experiences during Operations Manna and Exodus.
He describes these in more detail in interviews produced by the RAF Benevolent Fund and these are featured further down this page.
Additionally please see the interview with Jeff Mackay from Australia who served in 460 Squadron and made a special visit to Binbrook last week. Again his interview is in three parts to assist with the speed of downloading.

Welcome to our website which aims to bring together the wartime experiences of a group of residents from in and around our home town of Sutton-on-Sea.
While most of our Interviewees now reside in or near Sutton-on-Sea I was pleased to be given the opportunity to carry out interviews in the Louth area.
I was very fortunate to meet Madge Goddard, whose husband William ( Bill ) fought in World War 2.
Sadly Bill passed away in 2009 but he was interviewed and gave his incredible story to another film maker in 2005 who produced a DVD.
Madge has kindly agreed to allow me to use this DVD which has now been re-processed in order to bring Bill's Story to this website. It is very unusual to be able to publish a personal story in this way and I hope as many people as possible listen to Bill's account which can be found on the ARMY Page of this website.
I am very grateful to Madge and her family for allowing me to bring Bill's Story to you.
Our exceptional Sutton-on-Sea people originate from all over the UK and each has a different story to tell about living through the war years.
Some were school children at the time and give a unique insight into the effects of the war on home, school, work and family life.
Although each story is different and the locations are spread far and wide across England you will find a common and positive thread running through them.
Everyone interviewed had felt that living through those years was "something you just had to do".
They had to "get on with it" but the children at the time also saw the war as a "big adventure". Equally, however, they realised what a difficult and tragic time it was.
These are everyday stories of living through the war but in fact form an important historical and social document of exceptional and difficult times.
Please do take some time to sample some of these stories from the wonderful residents of this delightful seaside town.
Our thanks go to each and everyone of them.
Paul Espin and Bev Philp
Please note that we are developing this website and adding more stories as soon as we can.

About Us
Paul was given an opportunity in 2010 to produce a film on behalf of South Holland District Council, about heroes in and around Long Sutton, Lincs. regarding their experiences during the Second World War.
This inspired Paul to record other interviews with people who also had experiences and memories of that conflict.
In researching and creating this website film footage has been found on Youtube which was originally part of the film in Long Sutton. These extracts can be found below.
